Having seen its days end as the Village School in 1967 School House became a Family Home in 1970 having been purchased from the local authority and renovated in the style of the day!! Our brief was to create a modern family home whilst maintaining some period features with a cosy lived in feel.
This project involved the complete service, survey, design, architectural plans, build, interior fit out and of course project management.
We successfully obtained four separate planning applications to add dormer windows, an extension over the entrance, the introduction of an orangery to create a family room off of the kitchen and the removal of the existing garage (toilet block) to create a new garage with adjoining games room.
The works involved a complete strip out back to the shell of the property which included many structural alterations, once back to the bare bones we set about getting all the permanent structural elements in place and completed the building works along with the replacement of all the windows and external doors ready for the interior fit out which included everything from tiled, hardwood and carpeted floor finishes, fitted kitchen in partnership with Martin Moore, restoration of the original Aga and soft furnishings.
